31 Beautiful Bible Verses to draw you closer to God
Do you ever feel distant from God? Do you long to draw closer to him? One of the main ways we can draw closer to God and get a deeper connection is to simply read God’s word in the Bible. In the book of Hebrews the word of God is described as ‘alive and active’ (Hebrews 4:12). This means that by immersing ourselves in his word we can draw closer to God. Take a second to think about this. His word is alive and active. There are many verses where we are encouraged to draw closer to God, plus specific Bible verses about getting closer to God. As you read, trust and pray that God will speak to you directly through the verses.

Here are 10 creative and practical tips to bring God’s word closer in your every day life. Don’t be afraid to use your creativity and explore different methods.
10 CREATIVE TIPS TO DRAW GOD’S WORD CLOSER
- Memorise your favourite Bible Verses: Write out verses on large gift labels and pop in your pocket or bag – great to pull out and read when you have a spare moment, and to help memorise. See below for one of mine.
- Display (or make) Scripture Art for your home- visit Etsy for Bible art inspiration.
- Buy coffee mugs with scripture verses printed on them (plenty on Amazon and Etsy) or buy a mug art kit and make your own (how many times a day do we reach for a mug of coffee or tea?)
- Create a weekly Verse Planner (sign up for a free printable in this post)
- Invest in a beautiful Bible- ditch the dull brown covers! There are so many beautiful Bibles available now- do a search on amazon or Etsy for ‘beautiful Bibles’ and you’ll see. A beautiful bible will encourage you to open it up and read God’s word more regularly. I recently bought the Anne Nielson Angel Art Bible. - Try a Journal Bible which encourages you to write in your Bible. Highlight the verses that speak to you with highlighter pens.

- Listen to God’s word as you go to sleep (Explore Youtube for videos to take God’s word with you through the night.

Like Jesus who often took himself off to a quiet place, look for the quiet spaces, places and moments in your life to seek the presence of the Lord, and his word. Is it easy? In a world of busyness, and an enemy that will do anything to keep you from God’s word no it is not. I know for me it always takes intentionality and a willingness to put something else down in my life. Think of your best friend that you talk to and spend time with (would they be your best friend if you didn’t make time for them?). Jesus wants the same with you. He wants to speak to you, listen to you and to have a personal relationship with you.
Remember that God’s see’s your whole life and wants to be right in the middle of it- not on the outskirts battling for attention. By drawing closer to his word you’ll draw closer to him.
