Take a peep at what’s inside

How to use ‘Blossom’- A Free printable self-care planner and journal
The first part of Blossom is a one-month self-care journal. Each page has an individual Bible verse focusing on self-care.

On each page you have a journal prompt to help you reflect on each day, plus lots of space to journal and write. If you need extra space to write you can also print off the ‘reflections’ or the ‘notes’ pages.
Is self-care Biblical?
The simple answer is yes! Christian self-care is found in the Bible and the spiritual practices of prayer, reflection, and solitude Jesus practiced himself. During his ministry Jesus frequently took himself away to pray and to rest. There are many verses in the Bible which reflect self-care and although the actual word self-care doesn’t appear in the Bible, self-care is certainly practiced.

Looking after our bodies
The Bible also references looking after our physical bodies in many places including in this verse in the book of Corinthians where it says;
1 Corinthians 3: 16: 17
“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.”
Our body houses the Holy Spirit, so what we do with it matters. We are a ‘temple’ of the Holy spirit and God’s spirit dwells inside of us.

Using the journal as part of your morning routine
I encourage you to use this journal to help establish a positive morning routine.
When you start the day well, it sets up the rest of your day in a positive way.
If every evening or the end of the day is better for you, that’s fine, the main thing is to establish a good routine.
At the end of the monthly journal, you’ll find self-care planners that you can use to help create good daily habits.
Included in Blossom is;
- A daily self-care Planner
- A weekly self-care Planner
- A monthly self-care Planner
- A self-care priorities list page
Benefits of using a self-care planner
- Creates an intentional self-care routine with planned moments of self- care so you don’t neglect this area of your life
- Creates self-care priorities which you can incorporate in your planners (such as rest time/ prayer time/ physical exercise)
- Creates healthy habits such as; getting enough sleep and having regular sleep, regular meals and looking after your physical health (by being intentional and planning these habits in)
- Identifies any bad habits
- Allows you to write your monthly Goals- which in turn helps you to reflect positively for the month ahead
- Allows you to reflect and create new self-care activities that align and fit in with your life
- Helps you to focus on a proper self-care routine
Finally, there are prayer resources for your prayer time
Prayer can be a creative space, and the prayer resources included encourage you to be intentional with your prayer time. Included are;
- The Prayer Room- Weekly prayer room Focus Page

- Prayer Reflections Page
- Prayer for people page-This prayer resource helps you to think and pray about others and to pray for their specific needs.
- It’s easy to be casual about praying for other people’s needs but by writing the prayers and needs out you can ensure you don’t forget, and create an intentional habit of prayer towards others.
- Remember answered prayer- It’s easy to forget how God has answered our prayers – this page has an ‘answered prayer’ section so you can write down your answered prayers or thoughts around this.
By spending time in prayer, you are allowing yourself time to connect with Jesus. And he longs for this!
Final Thoughts
In a world of busy schedules, a christian self-care journal is a simple way to create mindful habits that can bring us closer to God.
Don’t be afraid to experiment with your self-care journey and find what works for you.
Whether that’s small blocks of time for prayer, a whole spa day or creating a daily routine such as a walk or run, it’s important for yourself and family that you don’t neglect yourself.
And remember self-care is not selfish! When we look after ourselves we can give back to others and we can Blossom (had to put that in!) As the saying goes ‘you can’t pour from an empty cup’. Enjoy x
